Internet Usage Policy

The East Cheyenne County Library District (ECCLD) recognizes and is dedicated to the free flow of ideas and supports the First Amendment Rights of Library patrons. In order to do this we provide the public with a wide range of information resources. However, the Library’s traditional role of selection is superceded by the free and open accessibility of information on the Internet. In order to maintain a healthy balance to the information provided via the Internet the ECCLD and it’s board of Directors offer the following disclaimers and cautions for Internet usage.

The library has no control over the information accessed via the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its content.

The ECCLD board or library staff cannot guarantee that sexually explicit, violent or hate mail will not be accessed either by mistake or deliberate action.

The ECCLD board or library staff cannot guarantee there will not be Internet sites to which a parent or patron might object.

Patrons are strongly cautioned against providing personal information over the Internet.

Patrons are strongly cautioned to question the accuracy of information they find on the Internet.

Parents and guardians are cautioned to be aware of what their children are accessing and viewing via the Internet.

Patrons are responsible for any sites they reach.

Parents are strongly encouraged to work with their children to develop acceptable rules for Internet use.

Use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right. If you have any questions or concerns pertaining to the library’s Internet usage policies, please contact the Director. Thank you for your support of the E. Cheyenne County Public Library.
